Report: Pres envoy says Russian firms have strengths for tech leap

MOSCOW, Oct 11 (PRIME) -- Russian companies have several advantages that will help them make technological breakthroughs and occupy new markets, the president’s special representative on digital and technological development Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday in an interview to the Rossiya 24 television channel.

“Our companies have several historic advantages. Speaking about the most important, first, it’s the quality of people. We rest on the strongest fundamental basis of the Soviet system of education,” Peskov said.

“The second advantage is, of course, close ties with science, with developments and strong positions we have in physics and mathematics. We have several tens of examples when Russian technological companies go abroad and are very successful, and they occupy sometimes whole new markets or whole industries.”

Peskov referred to the companies working on the boundaries of the physical and digital worlds, like Geoscan, a developer and manufacturer of professional aerial imaging systems, and Biocad, an innovative biotechnology company.

“These are all Russian technological companies that appeared in the 2000s and won in international competition,” the official said.
